Ready when you are.
How to use
Choose a common timing using the preset buttons and the adjustments for egg size, temperature, and altitude.
Both big eggs and refrigerated eggs add 30 seconds each to the preset cooking time.
Altitude above zero metres adds additional 60 seconds for each 300 metres of elevation to the cooking time.
You can also manually enter your desired time to minutes and seconds input boxes.
Start the clock once the eggs are in the boiling water.
Times are a guide โ egg size, egg temperature, altitude, and how you like the yolk all make a difference.
Tips for the perfect eggs
Five minutes usually makes a soft-boiled egg with a runny yolk. Seven minutes is a useful starting point for a jammy centre, and ten minutes is a firmer hard-boiled egg. Adjust the time to make it yours.
Use eggs at room temperature for more consistent results. Add some salt to the water. This can help the shell separate from the egg more cleanly when peeling.
Start timing once the water reaches a gentle boil. Adjust cooking time based on your altitude and egg size. When the timer goes off, immediately transfer the eggs to ice water. Alternatively, carefully empty the boiling water and fill the kettle with cold tap water.
Yes, the countdown is based on the actual clock, so it catches up when you return. Keep the tab open; closing it stops the timer.
Of course. The timer can be used for any task that requires a countdown.
Eggs straight from the refrigerator take a little longer to cook than eggs at room temperature because they start out colder. For more consistent results, use eggs at room temperature and keep the cooking time the same. If you use refrigerated eggs, you may need to add roughly 30โ60 seconds, depending on the egg size.
At higher altitudes, water boils at a lower temperature, so eggs take longer to cook. The higher your kitchen is above sea level, the more cooking time you may need. As a general rule, add about 1 minute of cooking time for every 300 metres (1,000 feet) of altitude, then adjust the time to suit your preference.
